Curriculum

Our curriculum is broad and diverse and complies with the 2010 Equality Act and the SEND regulations 2014.  Children who have protected characteristics have equal access and experiences in every curriculum subject. The school makes reasonable adjustments to ensure all children are included in every lesson.

If you want to know more, speak to the Headteacher or your child's class teacher.

Intent

Our curriculum has been designed to ensure every child can be ‘like trees that keep on bearing fruit’ putting the child at the centre of our caring, sharing, school, where positive relationships, based on mutual trust and respect are at the heart of everything we do.

By building progressive core knowledge and key curriculum concepts using a range of learning skills and subject skills, Our curriculum aims to offer learning experiences with Christian values at its heart.

Our curriculum is designed to lead to pupils being able to use, recall and describe key skills and knowledge and to enable them to make connections between these developing concepts, their prior learning, and their lived experiences.

Implementation

It is the intent of our curriculum that children will be ready for the next stage of their learning journey as they move through the school and beyond.

Using schemes of work that are adapted to our mixed class, two year cycle of learning- subject leaders design the progression in core knowledge, skills and concepts taught. They ensure that all teachers are familiar with curriculum expectations through training and monitoring.

Impact:

Class teachers are responsible for planning the curriculum for their class. They make decisions about what resources and materials they use, and how they scaffold support appropriately. They do this using their professional knowledge and expertise, using the guidance of external professionals, sharing best practice and providing support for each other.

Our children demonstrate confidence, independence, resilience and an excitement for learning.

Our children are able to form meaningful relationships based upon mutual respect and trust, recognising and celebrating difference, not only within the school community, but in the wider world as well.

Our children have access to a wide and varied curriculum, allowing each of them to excel as individuals and be the best they can be.

Our children are well prepared to access the challenges at each stage of their school journey and as they move on to the secondary school curriculum.

This year is Cycle A
